I just had a major cognition about the nature of Transubstantiation...If we can accept that the bread and the wine become the "body and blood of Christ," then we can accept that in our acceptance of Him, that we too can become as Christ! As we consume, take in, integrate, absorb, become one with... the bread (His teachings)... and His blood (His life)... we become one WITH HIM! This is why communion is such an important part of the ritual. It is also why confession is so important; that we may come to Him clean of our sins.
Perhaps this is not so earth-shaking to many, but the realization of this has cleared up a lot of misunderstanding for me about communion and the Eucharist.
